What is it?
A bullet journal is a way to organize your thoughts, habits, schedule, and anything else to fit your needs. This is done through the use of habit trackers, weekly and monthly calendars, mood trackers, and lists. You can personalize a bullet journal any way you want using themes or designs that you want, for example my bullet journal section for February will use hearts, pinks, and reds.
Why is it useful?
Personally I am not typically very organized, so having something that forces me to write out my schedule is very helpful when I'm asked if I am available to babysit or do things with friends. It is also helpful to keep in check how I am feeling each day or can help me work towards achieving goals such as drinking more water each day.
My First Month of Bullet Journaling:
Wellness Week Presentation
With the help of Generation Think, I have gained an interest in bullet journaling: a method of journaling which utilizes habit trackers, mood trackers, extensive lists, designs and many other aspects to reinforce mental health, organization, time management, and many other benefits. After receiving all these benefits, I decided it would be crazy to limit bullet journaling to the walls of Generation Think. To spread this to my peers, I presented with one of my fellow Generation Think classmates at the past wellness week to a small group. For prep work, we created eleven mini journals out of card stock paper so each attendee would have a medium on which they could design and create. On the day of the actual presentation, we showed a video of a very experienced bullet journalist, followed by a flip through of our journals, and finished by free time where each attendee could make trackers, calendars, and spreads. It was so great to see every person so focused on creating a high quality product, and to see their genuine interest in what we had to share. On the way out we heard many people saying they wanted to start their own actual journals, and to know that we started that was confirmation that we made an impact. This presentation has helped me become more comfortable and skilled at public speaking and better at planning and preparing.
